My Story

My name is Gary Huntley, I am a former soldier with 22yrs service. I very proudly served 12 years with the 1st Battalion of The Parachute Regiment and 10 years with the 2nd Battalion of The Royal Irish Regiment.

In 2014 I had a double Total Knee Replacement due to the wear and tear from my service, so I have had to make some small adjustments to my life. I am now Rowing 1,000,000m in 66 days on a Concept2 rowing machine in aid of BLESMA.

The reason I have chosen BLESMA is because I have friends and comrades that have lost limbs, eyesight or suffered other life changing injuries, whilst serving their country. Physical and mental injuries that have required major life changes and adjustments, so great that I can not begin to imagine.

Having seen some of the life changes these brave men and women have had to go through to adapt to their new lives with the help of BLESMA. I feel that this is the least I can do to help support and raise awareness of this great charity that is helping these veterans to live as normal a life as possible post injury.

Please dig deep and be as generous as possible, as every penny will help. Thank you very much, Gary Huntley
